Jacques Rogge = is the present International Olympic Committee Chief.

Nomination to OSCAR Award


PEEPLI LIVE , the Hindi film produced by the actor Aamir Khan, will be India's official entry to this year's (2010) Academy Awards (OSCAR) in the Best Foreign Language Film Category. Tamil Film Angadi Theru competed closely with PEEPLI LIVE for this Oscar Nomination.

A grand dance spectacle involving 1,000 Bharatnatyam dancers was performed at the premises of the Brihadisvara Temple in Thanjavur. An interesting story of the discovery of the Karana Sculptures - where the 108 Karanas form the basic movements in Bharatanatyam has come tolight. By which it is learned that Siva, the Lord of Dance, is portrayed as performing these Karanas. Eminent dancer Padma Subramanyam choreographed this mega dance event.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE.


BHIMARAO AMBEDKAR - he was born at MHOW on April 14th, 1891. His birth place MHOW is now at Madhya Pradesh state.

After the reorganisation of States on the basis of Languages in 1956, the leading daily DINAMALAR was launched on April 15, 1957 , from Tirunelveli.

TENDULKAR COMMITTEE.


Tendulkar Committee's "Poverty Projections for 2011" - initiated by Planning Commission, has suggessted to expand the PDS ( public distribution system) cover. The present PDS coverage population is 6.52 Crore. This is to be increased to 8.07 crores.
