First BASE jump by Army Skydiver.

Lt. Col. Satyendra Verma , captain of the Army Skydiving team, carried out the first BASE jump in the country. Col. Verma jumped from the Pitampura televison tower, from a height of 158 metres. BASE jump is one of the activities being promoted by the Army.This year's (2010) best sports person Sahara award was given to Wrestler SUSHIL Kumar and Boxer Mary GOMEZ. In Cricket it was Sachin Tenbdulkar and Mithali raj of women cricket who recieved this awards.

Central Scheme for youth in Naxal-hit districts. The " BaL Bandhu Scheme for protection of Children's Rights in Areas of Civil Unrest" is aimed at bringing stability in the lives of children and, in the process, ensure their entitlements to protection, health, nutrition, sanitation, education and safety are fulfilled. In the first phase, the scheme will be implemented in Kokrajhar, Chirang, North Cachar Hills (ASSAM), Khammam (Andhra Pradesh), Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), Jamui, Rohtast, East Champaran and Sheohar (Bihar) and Dantewada (Chhatttisgarh). While the scheme has been drafted by the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, it will be implemented by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
The U.S President Barack Obama, who makes a visit to India, is slated to meet the students of St. Xavier's College on November 7, 2010.
